CaseStack Launches New Consolidation Program at Luncheon Event
Held at the Arkansas World Trade Center and hosted by CaseStack, the Mexico Logistics Symposium on September 24, 2008 marked the launch of a new consolidation program that will aid Mexico-produced CPG companies in US distribution.
Located just a few miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, the cross docking location in Laredo, Tx will serve as a gateway for Mexican products to enter the United States. In addition to streamlining the supply chain management process, the program provides a sustainable solution to a common logistics consideration. Instead of shipping various products less-than-truckload (LTL) and to numerous locations prior to their final destinations, each product will be combined onto a full truckload and move directly to a distribution center (DC). This reduces total transit time and cuts down on carbon dioxide emissions.
The cross docking opportunity will provide a new vendor pool for retailers along with transportation to distribution centers nationwide.
CaseStack was welcomed by the World Trade Center, the host for the event, as well as representatives from the Sam M. Walton College of Business, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and dozens of Mexican suppliers including Dannon, Johnson and Johnson, Chocolate Ibarra, Frontera Produce and Marian Foods, Inc. About 70 people attended the symposium.
Following the program and the hors d’oeurves catered by James at the Mill culinary artist Miles James, a red velvet cake from Shelby Lynns Cake Shoppe was served and guests were given a CaseStack-themed token of appreciation for attending.
