David McGill is the Operations Manager of CaseStack’s branch in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is David’s third month in CaseStack and he is still learning about the CaseStack model and the different warehousing programs that CaseStack offers. It is my pleasure to have a phone interview with David.
Melisa Giovani (MG): Hi David! So, what do you think about the new job? Do you like it?
David McGill (DM): I love the environment that I work in. CaseStack allows me to make a difference in the company. I have the freedom to voice my opinions. People listen to you and are interested in your thoughts.
MG: Good deal! So, I am assuming that you work closely with Dan then? (Dan Sanker is the CEO of CaseStack who moved to Fayetteville in August 2007)
DM: Yep, I see him everyday. His office is always accessible. I can grab a cup of coffee and sit down to talk with him. One amazing thing about Dan is that he knows everybody by name. He often jokes with us and shares laughter together. That is why we are all very comfortable with Dan.
MG: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
DM: I grew up 75 miles away from Fayetteville, so I have been a local all my life. I have a beautiful wife and 3 children, aged 2, 4, and 7. We love to do outdoor activities together such as camping, canoeing, and fishing. My previous job required me to travel 75% of the time. Now that I am with CaseStack, I get to be at home 90% of the time. This arrangement works best for me. I want to see my children grow up.
MG: Wow! Sounds like you have a tight bond with your children?
DM: Yep, in fact, I can gladly say that I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t have any children . They complete your life. Wait until you have kids and you will know what I mean.
MG: 7-8 years down the road I guess. J Lastly, any advice for me, a college student who is looking forward to going to the real world?
DM: There is time and place for everything. When you work, you work hard and not play. When you play, that is the time for you to be off work. Just enjoy the time that you have at hand!
MG: Thanks a lot for your advice, David! I appreciate it!
